Priorities in Placements
In fairness to families that join SSC Co-op Preschools, we have a priority order for placements. Registrations that are complete, with the registration fee addressed and information given, will be considered in the priority order. We will endeavor to communicate with any families that have incomplete forms, so they are complete by the deadline.
Which classes do I have priority for?
Classes will appear here.
General Guidelines for Priority and Open Registration

Generally, if a student is enrolled in a class at a site, they will have priority into the next age level class at their site.
If a parent would like to have their student repeat an age level, they have first priority into that class, at that site.

If a student registers for another site, they will have second priority into the age appropriate class at that other site.

First choice placements will all be processed first, and then all 2nd choice, and then all 3rd choice. If you are waitlisted in all your choices, the registrar will contact you with any options for enrollment while waiting for a spot in your preferred choices.

Multiples (same age siblings) will be processed and placed together.

All Toddlers – you have equal priority into any 2s class, at any site, or a Multi Age Class.

Kindergarten - if your family has not decided if your PreK/4s student is ready for Kindergarten, please go ahead and register with your priority during this phase. If you decide later that they are going off to K, we will refund your registration fee. Please talk to your parent instructor about what classes might work best for your child.

Infants/Movers – you have priority into any one day Toddler class or Multi Age Class.

Multi Age Students - you have equal priority into any Multi Age Class, Toddler Class*, or 2s Class*. For 3s or 4s, you will have next priority after students currently enrolled at that site, if at another site. (*student must be age appropriate for that class)
Baby Wearing Families – if you are currently wearing your registered baby to class, you might be able to register at this time. Those wishing to enroll in an infant/movers class for next year, classes and enrollment will be offered starting on Feb 1st, please use our separate form. Those with birthdays August 31, 2025 and older, enrolling in Toddlers, can use the Priority Registration Form.

Alki Multi Age Drop-off Families - you have first priority into an age appropriate class at Alki, and second priority into an age appropriate class at another site.

Priority Registration (January)

Families with a current student (or that starts school in January 2026) may register for the 2026-2027 school year during Priority Registration. Current enrollments will be checked. The deadline is January 31 at midnight.

Every student with the same priority level will be placed with equal access. If more students apply for a class than there are spots, everyone of that priority level will be assigned to that class by lottery, with the overflow placed on a waitlist in the continuing order. The next priority level will be processed next, using the same lottery as above if necessary. Late Priority Registrations will be added after on-time registrations, but before Open Registrations.

Some Admiral 3s students have an added layer of priority for the Admiral PreK/4s. If they attended an Admiral 2s class and an Admiral 3s class, they have priority over students that started in the 3s class.

Open Registration (February)

During Open Registration, we will be accepting late priority registrations, new-to-co-op siblings, and new families. The deadline for Open Registration is February 28th at midnight.

Generally, placement priority is currently enrolled students, followed by siblings, followed by new families. During each phase, if there is a waitlist, or one needs to be created, a lottery will be used at each priority level to determine the order of placement.

A student that starts class in February 2026 will be considered currently enrolled and will given that priority.

Ongoing Registration (March - September)
Families that register during March or later, will be placed on a first come, first served basis. In some cases a spot will be held briefly during conversations regarding enrollment, however a completed, paid registration will be given priority over an incomplete registration.

Registration Tips

Make sure you put your first choice down as your first choice, even if you think you will be waitlisted.
Please list classes for 2nd choice and/or 3rd choice, but only if you will be able to attend those times.
Your registration team, Fiona and Jen, work hard at moving waitlists all summer and we are often able to move most families to their first choice class by September.
Thanks so much and I’m looking forward to receiving your registration! Fiona
