A Bit About Me
Teacher Helen moved to Seattle in 2016 after earning a Masters in Public Health and working in Atlanta. Originally from Austin, Texas, Helen has always had an interest in biology, life sciences and child development. She is the parent to 2 children, navigating parenthood and co-op preschool. She absolutely loves birth to three years as children start to discover the world, then themselves. There is so much change for everyone in the family. She values the support and community you gain through co-op preschool being someone who moved to Seattle without any family nearby. When she isn't in the kid's class or helping her students, she is most likely on an adventure with her kiddos or dreaming about the next house project, and trying to avoid the question "What's for dinner?".
What is your superpower?
Hugs that heal :)
Share your favorite preschooler-approved joke!
What do you call a bear with no teeth? A gummy bear!
Share the most unusual or adorable item you've found in your pocket after a day at school.
A marker? Both permanent and washable. It's not adorable, but it's practical and sought after by all so I always try and bring it back.
What does co-op mean to you?
Co-op means community to me. Finding other parents with like-minded parenting philosophies is empowering, and knowing that I can be in a space without judgement, to try my best, and encourage others is something I think everyone wishes they had.
