A Bit About Me
Sara, born in the Seattle area, moved around often in childhood but was able to return to the Pacific Northwest to earn her B.A. in Sociology from Whitman College. She finally came “home” to Seattle to get her Masters in Social Work at the University of Washington with a specialization in Children, Youth, and Families. After working for nine years as a social worker with the Washington State foster care system, she decided to stay home following the birth of her first child. Becoming a parent is a big adjustment, so Sara was delighted to discover community and connection with like-minded parents through enrolling her child in co-op preschool. Between her two children, Sara ended up being involved in a parental role with White Center and Lincoln Park co-ops for a total of six and a half years. Sara’s children have since aged out of preschool, and Sara is delighted to be able to continue in the co-op community in her role as Parent Instructor. Sara hopes to help other parents find community, connection, and friendship through co-op as she once did.
