Shelby Buker

Spanish Teacher

A Bit About Me

After 10 years of teaching public school, between grades Kindergarten and 5th grade, Teacher Shelby decided to stay home with her two girls and enrolled her older daughter in the 3s class. She was so impressed and excited by the Co-op values and how much her daughter was thriving in the class.
When the opportunity arose to teach Spanish one day a week to the 3s and Pre-K at the Lincoln Park location, Shelby jumped at the opportunity. With a MA in English Language Learning and six years of experience teaching language learners, it seemed like a great chance to teach language again and be able to still spend time at home with her kids.

What is your superpower?

What does co-op mean to you?

Co-op to me means community, play based learning, and friendship. As a Co-op teacher and parent, I’ve made many special friendships and found connections that will carry with me for a lifetime.
